New exhibition and book launch
Thursday the 11th of June we opened a new exhibition at the Oslo Jewish Museum. The exhibition is called “Women in Yiddish Culture” and will be open to the public from June 14th to August 23rd. The same day we had a book launch for the museum’s anthology of stories by Eva Scheer.
To mark this occasion we had music by Morten Michelsen (clarinet) and Almir Meskovic (accordion). Speeches by Sidsel Levin (JMO), Barbara Pendzich (Bente Kahan Foundation), Monika Adamczyk-Garbowska (Maria Curie-Sklodowska-university) and Håkon Harket (Press Publishing).
The actor Kari Ann Grønsund read the story “Posene på gjerdestolpen” (The sacks on the fence post).
The exhibition was declared officially open by State Secretary Ingvild Næss Stub.
Rounding off the event, Monika Adamczyk-Garbowska gave the lecture “From Women Readers to Women Authors: Female Voices in Yiddish Literature.”
The exhibit is a part of the EEA project “Yidish far ale”, and is financed by EEA funds from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and other Polish grants.
