Sat 6. Sep | Kl 20.00
On September 6th, we are thrilled to welcome our audience to another Klezmer Night!
This time, we will have two concerts in two different venues.
“From shtetl to Broadway”
“From shtetl to Broadway” is an innovative new musical project created especially for the Days of Jewish Culture 2014. An orchestra of accomplished Norwegian musicians will perform music by Dave Tarras, arranged according to sound recordings from the 1920s and 30s. The music brings together Tarras’s Ukrainian klezmer background and the America jazz and popular music he found when he immigrated to his new homeland.
Levins Orchester, assembled especially for the occasion, is led by Morten Michelsen and consists of musicians from Jazzin’ Babies, Sturm und Drang and Urban Tunélls klezmerband.
Doors open at 8pm at Victoria Nasjonal Jazzscene, Karl Johans gate 35.
Tickets: NOK 300. Available for advance purchase.
Goylem Space Klezmerband
Following the concert at Nasjonal Jazzscene, we will move onto Herr Nilsen, a few minutes’ walk away. There, the youthful and talented Goylem Space Klezmerband will play their exciting and engaging klezmer and Balkan infused music.
The concert starts at 10pm at Herr Nilsen, C.J. Hambros plass 5
Tickets: NOK 150
